Farris Family News December 2004

More About The Farris Family 2004

Besides doing tons and tons of physical activities, we also did a lot with homeschooling this year.

We spent the year doing much of TEACH YOUR CHILD TO READ WELL and TEACH YOUR CHILD MATH WELL and doing HANDWRITING WITHOUT TEARS and RAY'S ARITHMETIC (from the 1870s!).

Annabelle is now joining in on much of the homeschooling activities.  She is now in the midst of doing FUNNIX which is very much like TEACH YOUR CHILD TO READ WELL.

We are learning Hebrew together using ALEF BET ADVENTURE and now it's time to find more Hebrew readers and workbooks so we can learn more.  We are also doing some Spanish.

The children are all playing the piano quite well now!  Jo Ann is teaching them piano in addition to figure skating.  Joel memorizes tons of songs.  His favorite song to play is the STAR WARS theme.

Rebekah  learned sign language from Jo Ann and knows the entire sign language alphabet now and also how to sign "The Brownie Promise" in sign language.  All of us can also "sing" several songs in sign language.

Everyone is also playing the guitar and the recorder, reading books and books, doing art, learning history and science, learning about different forms of music, loving musicals, swimming, doing some skiing, doing some speed skating, playing baseball, playing tennis and basketball, and roller skating when we can.

On a sad note, Jo Ann's dear friend Giuliano Grossi passed away in September of 2004.  A link to his memory site can be found at: http://giulianogrossi.info/

We had another "loss" this year too.  Our "home away from home," Bosanova Roller Skating Center, closed on April 14, 2004.  A link to our memories of Bosanova can be found by clicking here

And one last happy note!  Dan and Jo Ann celebrated 25 years of marriage on April 7, 2004!  We look forward to more wonderful years together!

Yes!  It has been a busy 2004!  Best wishes to everyone in 2005!
